BUILT FOR YOUR GARDEN, not A CATALOG
Custom arbors, pergolas, gates, fences, and garden structures — designed for your yard and built by hand on Massachusetts' South Shore.
Installed locally, shipped nationwide.
THE THING YOU'LL WALK PAST every DAY
A garden structure isn't furniture. You don't move it around or replace it in a few years. It becomes part of the place — the arbor you duck under on the way to the car, the gate that latches with a satisfying click, the raised beds that finally made the vegetable garden feel intentional.
So we build them like they're staying. Every piece starts with your yard, your house, and how you actually use the space, then gets designed from scratch to fit. No standard sizes, no kit hardware, nothing pulled from a big-box aisle.

IF YOU CAN describe IT
Body Arbors & pergolas. The first thing anyone notices walking in. Entry arbors, garden arches, pergolas over a patio or path.
Gates & fences. Built to hang straight and still swing clean ten summers from now. Garden gates, driveway gates, picket and privacy fencing.
Raised beds & garden enclosures. Cedar beds sized to your plot, and fully enclosed gardens that keep the deer out and the harvest in.
Trellises, benches & planters. The pieces that finish a space — and the ones you've been saving on Pinterest for years.
Commissioned work. Something we haven't built yet? Send us the idea. If it's wood, we can probably build it.
FROM FIRST SKETCH TO final COAT
Tell us about the space, what you're picturing, and your budget. Photos and rough dimensions help. Perfection doesn't.
Design. We sketch it, size it to your yard, and go back and forth until it's right. We don't cut a board until it is.
Build. Handcrafted in the shop from rot-resistant lumber, joined properly, checked twice.
Deliver. On the South Shore and Cape, we install it ourselves and walk it through with you. Everywhere else, it ships ready to set, with instructions written by the person who built it.
THE craftsman BEHIND GRAINY DAY
Ross has always wanted to know how things are built — not just how to use them, but what's holding them together. In 2018 he bought a house that needed work and decided to do most of it himself. Somewhere between the first framing job and the last piece of trim, necessity turned into the thing he'd rather be doing than anything else.
He measures twice, checks his level three times, and would rather rebuild a joint than send out one he isn't proud of. That's the whole approach: nothing leaves the shop unless it's right, because a garden structure has to hold up through a lot of winters.
Grainy Day is Ross and his wife Sarah, working out of Weymouth, Massachusetts.
LET'S BUILD yours
Tell us about your space and what you have in mind. We'll come back with questions, a rough direction, and an honest read on timing and cost.
Local to the South Shore or Cape Cod? We'll come see the yard. Anywhere else? We build it here and ship it to you.
